Site rules

• We do not allow camp fires ( Environmental Health inform us that we can not permit fires) but we do allow barbeques most of the time, please talk to staff about where to site them and our own home produced Eco-charcoal.
• Wild Oak Woods is a quiet site, there should be no noise after 11.00 p.m. and before 8.00 a.m.
• Please leave all communal areas as others would like to find them.
• Canned music should not be audible outside your accommodation please.
• Dogs must be kept on leads in the campsite and nature reserve, dogs are not allowed in the facilities block or on the furniture in the camping huts. Please pick up after your dog and deposit waste in the rubbish bin outside the facilities block.
• Children must be supervised at all times.
• There is no smoking in any of the buildings.
• Wood burners must be kept closed unless refuelling, must not be left on when you are out or going to bed and please to not leave anything flammable on or near the wood burner. Only wood supplied by the campsite should be burned on the stoves, deadwood is left in the wood for the benefit of wildlife.
• There is no access to the small holding area, forestry yard, wet area below the campsite or small wooded field to the east of the campsite except with a member of staff, for health and safety reasons.
• Camper’s gas appliances should not be used in or near the facilities block, huts or toilets.

Enjoy your stay without ruining anyone else’s.

Being safe on site

• We reserve the right to close the campsite due to extreme weather conditions.

There are a couple of small streams, several ponds and some poisonous plants on site please supervise your children at all times.

Ticks are found in the local area, if walking in long grass it’s a good idea to tuck your trousers in to your socks.

Occasionally we see Adders in the nature reserve…if you see a snake with black diamond markings give it a wide berth.

Much of campsite is bounded by a stone dyke. Please do not climb over, sit or lean on the dyke as the stones can be dislodged and are very heavy.

Badgers, deer and foxes are beautiful but they are not cuddly please do not approach them. 

Please don’t leave food in your tent, the wildlife may enjoy it and damage your belongings in the process.

Site limitations

Wild Oak Woods Eco-campsite is off grid, there are plug sockets in the kitchen for charging mobile phones only, a large load like a hair dryer can crash the system.

Water is supplied by a borehole, the water is great however if ever it is discoloured please boil before drinking or brushing teeth. 

Hot water is heated by solar thermal backed up by a wood burner boiler, if it runs cold please let a member of staff know.

All our toilets are composting, only pee, poo, loo roll and the sawdust provided goes down the loo, take care not to lose personal items in to the loo but if you do let a member of staff know.

Please note water in the cabin toilets and tent loo basins is not suitable for drinking or brushing teeth.
